Gene has been in the building industry since 1974, designing, building, inspecting, and estimating a broad range of building occupancies and construction types.
He attended HROP building trades program as a teacher’s assistant, and later teaching building codes to students in the same program. He attended college with majors in Industrial Arts and Building Inspection Technology.
He spent from 1974 to 2000 designing and building many custom homes, apartments and restaurants. He was licensed in 1982 as a general building contractor under the name of Armstrong Construction lic# 427464. You can check out his license status by going to www.cslb.ca.gov. He has never had a complaint filed against him in all those years.
In 1985 Gene studied “Building Inspection Technology” and was certified by the International Conference of Building Officials, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the National Fire Protection Association and was certified as a “Building Inspector” in the Building Plumbing , Mechanical and Electrical codes.
In 1997 Gene began moving into commercial and public works projects as a superintendent, project manager and estimator. He has been involved in the design, estimating, and construction of multiple large projects, including public projects such as schools, libraries, community centers, other city and county facilities, historical building restoration, seismic, energy and ADA retrofits. Private projects include banks, big box retail, retail and offices.
Gene is very knowledgeable and experienced in both residential and commercial design, inspection and construction.
Gene decided to start providing building inspection services here in the Sacramento area as result of seeing a need for more qualified building inspection by individuals with a firm understanding of all the major building codes, and a broad range of experience in the construction industry over many years.
Gene worked as a deputized county building inspector.
